1. About us and these terms
These terms apply when you use the OrangeRide Driver app to take jobs from OrangeRide, a trading name of Kapil Dev. We are licensed by Transport for London (TfL) to operate private hire vehicles under the Private Hire Vehicles (London) Act 1998, operator licence 11786.
Operating centre: Unit 2, 12 Deer Park Road, South Wimbledon, London SW19 3TL
Email: admin@orangeride.co.uk · Phone and WhatsApp: 07398 341839
By signing in to the Driver app and accepting jobs, you agree to these terms. Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we use your information, and our passenger Terms & Conditions, which set out what passengers are promised.
2. Who can drive with us
To take jobs, you must have, and keep valid at all times:
- a TfL private hire driver's licence;
- a full UK driving licence;
- a vehicle with a TfL private hire vehicle licence, insured for hire and reward, roadworthy and with a valid MOT where one is required.
We check your documents before you start and keep copies, as TfL requires. We decide who we approve, and we can pause or end your access if a document expires or we have concerns about safety or conduct.
Tell us straight away if anything changes: a licence is suspended, revoked or not renewed; your insurance lapses or changes; you are arrested, charged, convicted or cautioned for any offence; or your vehicle is damaged or changed. Don't take jobs until we have confirmed you can.
3. Your status
You are a self-employed driver, not our employee. You decide when to go online and which job offers to accept, and you provide your own vehicle, fuel, phone and insurance. You are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance.
Every journey is booked with us as the licensed operator, as TfL requires. You must only carry passengers on jobs we have given you through the app (or confirmed to you directly). Don't accept street hails or take bookings from our passengers privately.
4. Jobs and the app
- We offer jobs through the app. Once you accept a job, please do it, or release it through the app (or tell us) as early as you can so we can find another driver.
- Airport pickups follow the flight: if it's delayed or early, the pickup time moves and the app tells you. Please check the app before setting off.
- Keep the app open and your location on while you're online or on a job, so we can offer you work, show passengers where you are and keep the records TfL requires.
- Mark each stage of the trip in the app (arrived, passenger on board, completed) when it happens. These times form the booking record.
- Don't handle your phone while driving. Use it only in a secure cradle and when it is safe and legal to do so.
5. Fares, commission and payment
- Passengers pay the fixed fare agreed when they booked. You must not ask a passenger for more than the fare shown in the app, except tips they choose to give.
- Our commission, if any, is a percentage of the fare, charged on the fare excluding airport drop-off or pick-up charges. We set the rate and may change it from time to time, and it may be zero. For each trip, the app shows the fare, any commission and what you keep.
- Card and app payments are collected by us. We pay what you keep to the bank account you give us, on the schedule we agree with you when you join.
- Cash trips: you collect the fare and enter the amount in the app. Our commission on cash trips is settled against your earnings, as shown in the app.
- We will give you at least 14 days' notice, in the app or by message, before we introduce or increase commission. A lower rate can apply straight away. Any change applies only to jobs after it takes effect.
6. Safety and conduct
- Treat passengers with courtesy and help with luggage where you reasonably can.
- Follow the law, TfL's rules for private hire drivers and its conditions on your licence, including displaying your vehicle licence discs and carrying your driver badge.
- Never drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs, or while too tired to drive safely.
- Carry assistance dogs at no extra charge, as the law requires, unless you hold a TfL medical exemption certificate.
- Use child seats and seat belts as the law requires, and don't carry more passengers than your vehicle is licensed for.
- Use passengers' contact details and journey information only to complete the job. Don't keep, share or use them for anything else.
7. Complaints, lost property and incidents
We must record and investigate complaints about journeys, as TfL requires. If a passenger complains about a trip you did, we will tell you and ask for your account, and we will keep a record of the outcome.
If you find something left in your vehicle, report it in the app straight away and keep it safe until we arrange its return. Tell us at once about any accident, injury, damage or safety incident during a job.
8. Pausing or ending your access
You can stop driving with us at any time by telling us. We can pause or end your access to jobs, with or without notice, if you no longer meet the requirements above, break these terms or the law, or we have good reason to believe passengers may be at risk. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
We will still pay you what you have earned up to that point, less any commission you owe us. We keep the records TfL requires for the period it requires.
9. Responsibility and insurance
- You are responsible for your vehicle, its insurance and its condition, and for any fines, penalties or charges you incur while driving (for example parking, congestion or speeding charges), except airport charges included in the fare.
- Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Changes and governing law
We may update these terms from time to time and will tell you about important changes in the app or by message. The version on this page when you accept a job applies to that job. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
